Graduate students occasionally hold part-time teaching positions in other departments. Students who are fluent in a foreign language and who have teaching experience may wish to apply for a Teaching Assistantship in the appropriate language department, e.g., Spanish and Portuguese. Teaching Assistantships in some other departments, for instance English and History, usually are reserved for graduate students enrolled in those departments; but students from across the University regularly are awarded positions in other programs such as Composition and Communication, Rhetoric, and the General College. You should inquire directly to the departments below about openings and application procedures.
It is strongly recommended that you contact these programs directly at the earliest possible date, since application deadlines often occur before the CSDS and Comparative Literature admissions processes are complete.
